Inside London Fashion Week SS27’s 608,000-mention split
How Thai, Japanese, Taiwanese and Chinese star power captured social media, how a British front row and a high-street debut captured the newspapers, and what the gap between those two boards means after New York.
Bright, Koji Mukai and Shuhua took the feed. Kelly Osbourne, Lila Moss and Marks & Spencer took the papers. Burberry led both boards, and no longer owned the week by itself.
After our analysis of NYFW SS27 and of London’s own SS26 and FW26 editions, we turn to the September week on home turf. Official London Fashion Week SS27 ran 17–21 September 2026. Onclusive recorded more than 608,000 social mentions, 123.2 million reach and 358,000 authors between 16 and 22 September, with a spike at 7.00PM on the 21st, Burberry at Chelsea College of Arts. Mainstream coverage ran to 5,709 mentions and an advertising value equivalency of 284.7 million. The clothes moved. The two Onclusive boards did not describe the same evening.
This season did not overturn the thesis we published after New York but relocated it. Asian entertainment stars remain the primary engine of social volume. What London added is a commercial week that the BFC can measure in buyer badges, 47 catwalk shows, 23 presentations, 10 digital activations, 53 evening events, and a news week organised around McQueen’s first London show in 25 years, Mulberry’s runway return under Christopher Kane, and Marks & Spencer’s first official catwalk, celebrating 100 years of fashion. None of those three houses sits where Burberry sits on social.
All figures below cover 16–22 September 2026 and are sourced from Onclusive Social and Onclusive Monitor, unless noted. Brand share of voice is calculated among 134 houses; celebrity share of voice among 184 personalities measured for the window.
Key takeaways from London Fashion Week SS27
- Burberry still owns social, but the monopoly loosened. The house took 55.2% of brand social SOV among 134 labels, first, and not close, but below 86.94% in SS26 and 91.10% in FW26. H&M (17.2%) and McQueen’s London return (6.8%) built a second and third pillar that did not exist at that scale a year ago.
- The social peak was a Burberry peak. 608,000 social mentions, 123.2 million reach and 358,000 authors were recorded between 16 and 22 September. The spike landed at 7.00PM on 21 September, as Daniel Lee showed at Chelsea College of Arts.
- Social and news still do not describe the same week. Burberry is first on both boards, but the rest of the field reorders. H&M is second on social (17.2%) and fifth in digital news (4.5%). Marks & Spencer is sixth on social (1.3%) and third in news (7.5%). McQueen is third on social (6.8%) and second in news (7.7%).
- Bright, Koji Mukai and Shuhua own social; Kelly Osbourne and Lila Moss own the papers. Bright Vachirawit took 29.06% of celebrity social SOV, Koji Mukai 27.90%, Shuhua 17.20%. None of those three appear in the digital-news top 20. Kelly Osbourne (3.43%) and Lila Moss (3.42%) lead the press list.
- Seungmin was not in the room. Stray Kids’ Seungmin led celebrity social SOV at LFW SS26 (40.53%) and FW26 (43.00%). He does not appear in the SS27 social or news top 20. The Burberry Asia bloc this season was Bright, Koji Mukai, Shuhua, Zhang Jingyi and Wu Lei, with Kim Min-ha and Son Suk-ku also documented on the Chelsea College front row, outside the measured top 20.
- Hybrid hashtags still beat the event tag. #burberry (194,303) outran #lfw (8,964) and #londonfashionweek (6,927) combined. Person × house tags , #burberryxbright (49,742), #burberryxkojimukai (16,688), #hmthailandxmile (14,493), #shuhuaxburberryss27 (6,387), are how audiences entered the week.
- Off-calendar in London was a party layer, not a Ralph Lauren. Kim Kardashian’s Skims Regent Street flagship (19 September) and Kate Moss’s KMA × Perfect evening at Home House (20 September) sit off the BFC runway calendar. They register in news (2.60% and 2.20%) far more than on social.
- The BFC called it a commercial week. Accredited buyer attendance was up 19% year-on-year; international buyers were up 41%. That is a different dashboard from social SOV. The two can rise together without describing the same winners.
The London Fashion Week SS27 by the numbers
Social media
608,000 mentions were recorded between 16 and 22 September, produced by 358,000 authors and reaching an estimated 123.2 million.
The social peak landed at 7.00PM on 21 September. One show explains it: Burberry Summer 2027 at Chelsea College of Arts, with Central Cee on the runway and a front row that mixed British talent (Jonathan Bailey, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Jason Statham, Romeo Beckham, Skepta, Joe Locke) with Burberry’s Asian ambassador corps.
Mainstream media
5,709 mentions ran across digital, print, television, radio and podcasts. The peak also landed on 21 September. The AVE, Advertising value equivalency for the window is 284.7 million. ((i.e., the monetary value of media coverage if purchased as advertising)
The social week was a fandom story organised around Burberry and H&M. The news week was a British front-row and high-street story, McQueen’s return after 25 years, Marks & Spencer’s first official LFW catwalk, Natasha Zinko’s OnlyFans-sponsored show, with Burberry still first, but no longer alone.
What the industry called a win
FashionNetwork reported the BFC’s close-of-week statement on 21 September. The season, the Council said, delivered “renewed international and commercial momentum, with accredited buyer attendance up 19% year-on-year and accredited international buyer attendance increasing 41%.” David Thielebeule, fashion director of Bloomingdale’s, called London “a joy this season” and pointed to “the originality, independent thinking and openness to new ideas that continue to set London apart.” David Dessureault of Chalhoub Group said brands seen in London were now “on our radar, with real potential to bring to Dubai and the wider GCC.”
Early BFC-commissioned research published with the close found 89% of London adults aware of London Fashion Week, more than 80% of 18–24-year-olds engaged with it, and 71% engagement among Londoners from Global Majority backgrounds. That is a city-level awareness number. It is not a substitute for the 608,000 social mentions measured in this window, which still peak at 19:00 on the 21st, Burberry’s slot, rather than across the buyer circuit.
Laura Weir, appointed BFC chief executive in April 2025, had framed the September schedule around returns: McQueen with Seán McGirr at Lincoln’s Inn Chapel, Mulberry with Christopher Kane’s first collection for the house, and a high-street debut for Marks & Spencer. H&M opened the week with Nick Knight and SHOWstudio. Those are the commercial facts. They explain why McQueen is second in digital-news brand SOV (7.7%) and Marks & Spencer is third (7.5%). They do not explain why Burberry still holds 55.2% of brand social conversation, or why Bright, Koji Mukai and Shuhua hold 74.16% of celebrity social SOV.

Brand power: social versus digital news
Onclusive scored 134 houses in the 16–22 September window. Burberry is first on social (55.2%) and first in digital news (9.1%). Under that single name the week divides. H&M is second on social at 17.2% and fifth in news at 4.5%. Marks & Spencer is sixth on social at 1.3% and third in news at 7.5%.McQueen is third on social (6.8%) and second in news (7.7%). First place is shared. Everything under it is not.

Burberry and H&M together hold 72.4% of brand social conversation. Add McQueen and the top three hold 79.2%. Everyone from Marks & Spencer down is fighting over the remaining fifth. Di Petsa (4.9%) and TOGA (3.1%) are the two independent-scale houses that clear three percent , both of them with a single, measurable guest (Leigh-Anne Pinnock on the Di Petsa runway; Yves (formerly of Loona) at TOGA, Somerset House, 19 September).
Compared with a year ago, the concentration is less extreme. Burberry’s social SOV was 86.94% among 79 brands in SS26 and 91.10% among 114 brands in FW26. The house is still the conversation. It is no longer the only conversation.

In newsrooms the week reorders under Burberry. McQueen’s first London show in 25 years, under Seán McGirr, is second. Marks & Spencer’s first official LFW catwalk, a see-now-buy-now show at the Design Museum on 18 September, with Joan Collins in the front row and Karen Elson, Jodie Kidd, Erin O’Connor and Lennon Gallagher on the runway, is third, at 7.5%. Mulberry’s debut under Christopher Kane is fourth. H&M, second on social, falls to fifth.
Six houses make the news top 15 and miss the social top 15: Harris Reed, Chopova Lowena, Roksanda, Barbour, Edeline Lee, Aaron Esh. Four do the reverse: TOGA, Keburia, Labrum, Bora Aksu. Social SOV in this extract is a measure of who arrived with an already-organised audience. News SOV is a measure of who editors put in a frame. Treating either table as the week is how a house concludes it won while the other half of the industry saw someone else.
184 names. Seven never made the papers.
Onclusive measured 184 celebrities and ambassadors. Ranked by social SOV, the top seven are Bright Vachirawit (29.06%), Koji Mukai (27.90%), Shuhua (17.20%), Mile Phakphum (14.87%), Zhang Jingyi (3.59%), Yves (1.37%) and Wu Lei (1.30%). None of those seven appear in the digital-news top 20.
Ranked by news SOV, the list opens with Kelly Osbourne (3.43%) and Lila Moss (3.42%), then a Marks & Spencer bloc, Joan Collins, Karen Elson, Jodie Kidd, and two off-calendar names, Kim Kardashian and Kate Moss. The overlap between the two top twenties is thin: Katie Price, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jonathan Bailey, Alex Consani, Labrinth.

Bright, Koji Mukai and Shuhua together account for 74.16% of measured celebrity social conversation. Add Zhang Jingyi and Wu Lei and Burberry’s five named Asian ambassadors in the top 20 hold 79.05%. Mile Phakphum at H&M (14.87%) is the only non-Burberry name in the top five. Yves at TOGA (1.37%) is the only other house in the top seven.
The British names that filled Vogue UK’s 87-picture LFW gallery, Jonathan Bailey, Joe Locke, Skepta, Emilia Clarke, Sophie Thatcher live in the last dozen rows of the social board. Kim Kardashian’s 0.10% is a Skims Regent Street opening on 19 September, not a BFC front row.
Kim Min-ha and Son Suk-ku, both Burberry ambassadors, were documented at Chelsea College of Arts on 21 September. They do not appear in this top 20. Absence from a share-of-voice extract is not absence from the room.
A note on methodology: SOV and EMV (earned media value) are two fundamentally different ways of measuring the impact of ambassadors and celebrities. SOV measures conversation dominance, while EMV assigns monetary value to media exposure. Both are valuable but answer different questions. Asian Entertainment and Culture channel posted an hour-long video explaining the differences between SOV and EMV (Starting at 7 min 30 sec).

Kelly Osbourne walking Natasha Zinko’s OnlyFans-sponsored “Pay Per View” show on 18 September is the week’s most-covered single celebrity in digital news, at 3.43%. Lila Moss, McQueen on the 20th, Burberry on the 21st, and her mother’s KMA anniversary the same Sunday, is second, at 3.42%.
Then the Marks & Spencer bloc: Joan Collins in the front row (3.10%), Karen Elson (2.80%), Jodie Kidd (2.20%) and Lennon Gallagher (1.50%) on the runway.

Kim Kardashian at 2.60% and Kate Moss at 2.20% are off-calendar. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Jason Statham, Jonathan Bailey, Central Cee and Romeo Beckham are the Burberry names who clear the news board. Bright, Koji Mukai, Shuhua, Mile Phakphum, Zhang Jingyi, Yves and Wu Lei, the “social giants”, do not appear in the news top 20 at all.
That inversion is the London version of a finding we published after New York. Lingling Kwong owned NYFW social and was absent from the news top 20; Love Pattranite owned the papers from an off-calendar Coach seat. In London the social giants are again APAC ambassadors. The papers are again a Western seating chart, plus two off-calendar parties. No London name this season repeated Love Pattranite’s double: high on both boards.

Where the mentions actually sat:
Koji Mukai is the largest person-tag cluster in the file: #向井康二 at 93,731 and #kojimukai at 41,739, plus the hybrid #burberryxkojimukai at 16,688. Bright is the largest hybrid cluster: #bbrightvc 67,993, #burberryxbright 49,742, #burberryss27xbright 36,721. Add those three Bright tags and you already exceed #lfw by an order of magnitude.
Shuhua splits across four strings that would look like four mid-size stories if left ungrouped: #shuhua 56,071, #슈화 15,111, #舒華 8,843, #shuhuaxburberryss27 6,387. Mile Phakphum is the only non-Burberry cluster of this size, #milephakphum 52,388, #มายภาคภม 34,485, #hmthailandxmile 14,493, which is why H&M is the only house besides Burberry above 15% of brand social SOV.
#idle (7,904) sits next to Shuhua because i-dle’s fandom organised around her Chelsea College seat.
Used without a brand or a city it will ingest every other i-dle conversation in the window. #hm (8,490) has the same problem at house scale. Pair both, or the dashboard reports a group and a retailer instead of a front-row moment.
#zhangjingyi (8,980) already outruns #lfw (8,964) on its own. A listening brief that starts with the event umbrella and adds people later will invert the week: it will treat the close as a sideshow of the calendar, when the calendar was the sideshow of the close.

The London Fashion Week SS27 off-calendar layer
The British Fashion Council’s official schedule opened on Thursday 17 September and closed on Monday 21 September with Burberry. Unlike New York, the house that won both London boards sat on the official calendar. The off-calendar problem in London this season is smaller, and it is social-to-news rather than schedule-to-schedule.
Two measured moments sit outside the BFC runway PDF and still moved the celebrity news board:
- Kim Kardashian at the Skims Regent Street flagship party on 19 September, first international standalone store, covered by Vogue. News SOV 2.60%; social SOV 0.10%. Tems and Central Cee were also in that room before (and after) their official-week appearances.
- Kate Moss at the KMA × Perfect tenth-anniversary evening, Home House, 20 September, with Lila Moss. News SOV 2.20%. Kate Moss does not appear in the social top 20.
The industry term is off-calendar (or off-schedule), not “off agenda.” The distinction matters for measurement. A window that starts on 17 September still captures Burberry. A window that ignores 19–20 September parties will undercount Kim Kardashian and Kate Moss in news, and will miss why Lila Moss sits second on that board.
What London did not have, this September, is a Ralph Lauren: an off-calendar house that wins the newspapers while barely registering on social. Burberry won both boards from inside the official close.
London Fashion Week SS27: What changed from SS26 and FW26
| Metric | SS26 (Sep 2025) | FW26 (Feb 2026) | SS27 (Sep 2026) |
| Social mentions | 517,000 | 1.30 million | 608,000 |
| People talking | 305,000 | 850,000 | 358,000 |
| Social reach | 126.1 million | 124.3 million | 123.2 million |
| Mainstream mentions | 5,861 | 10,588 | 5,709 |
| Burberry social brand SOV | 86.94% | 91.10% | 55.2% |
| Primary Burberry social driver | Seungmin | Seungmin / Bright / YoonA | Bright / Koji / Shuhua |
SS26 and FW26 figures from Onclusive’s prior London Fashion Week analyses. SS27: Onclusive Social and Monitor, 16–22 September 2026.
September remains smaller than February on raw social volume, as it did a year ago, 608,000 mentions against February’s 1.30 million. Reach is stable across all three seasons (126.1 / 124.3 / 123.2 million). Mainstream mentions in SS27 (5,709) sit with SS26 (5,861), well below February’s 10,588, which included King Charles III at Tolu Coker.
The structural change is Burberry’s social share. The house went from a near-monopoly (86.94%, then 91.10%) to 55.2%. That is still first by a wide margin. It is no longer a closed system. H&M’s 17.2%, Mile Phakphum, Labrinth, Cruz Beckham, Tems, Alex Consani, and McQueen’s 6.8% on a 25-year homecoming are the two new pillars.
The other change is the missing name. Seungmin generated 40.53% of celebrity social SOV in SS26 and 43.00% in FW26. He was not on the Burberry SS27 front row. Fan tags from prior seasons still circulated; they did not put him on this season’s measured leaderboard. YoonA, second-wave FW26, is likewise absent from the SS27 top 20. Burberry rotated the faces and kept the architecture: Thai, Japanese, Taiwanese and Chinese ambassadors, closing-night slot, hybrid hashtags.
London Fashion Week SS27: Strategic implications
For PR and communications
A gallery and news recap will put Jonathan Bailey and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley on the news leaderboard. It will not put them on the social one. The social leaderboard in London is still built by guests whose fans already have a tagging grammar (Name × House, often in two scripts). Burberry remains the case study. H&M showed that a second house can rent the same machine, #hmthailandxmile is the proof, without catching Burberry.
For competitive intelligence
Read the two SOV tables together every season. A house that jumps on social and stays mid-table in news has rented a fandom (TOGA, Di Petsa). A house that jumps in news and stays small on social has rented a front row or a first-time narrative (Marks & Spencer, Mulberry, Harris Reed). Only Burberry held both boards at scale. H&M came closest to doing both.
For social listening teams
Configure Thai, Japanese, Korean and Chinese scripts before the week starts. Collapse Koji, Shuhua and Mile variants into clusters or you will report each of them as three mid-size tags instead of one large conversation. Do not drop #burberry from a celebrity query either, and do not drop #seungminxburberry from a negative check simply because he was not in the building. Last season’s tags persist.
For casting
Love Pattranite remains the brief we wrote in New York: an APAC name who also clears English-language picture desks. London SS27 did not produce that double. Bright, Koji and Shuhua maximised social and vanished from the news top 20. Kelly Osbourne, Joan Collins and Lila Moss maximised the clip and barely registered on social. The scarce profile is still the one who can sit on both boards.
As the calendar moves again to Milan and Paris, the question is no longer whether the Asian celebrity effect “works” because it works on social, every London season it is funded. The question SS27 adds is whether a house can afford to win only that board , and whether anyone except Burberry can win both. H&M took a visible second. Marks & Spencer and McQueen took the papers. Bright, Koji Mukai and Shuhua took the feed. That is the competitive map leaving London.
