Samsung leads the pack ahead of Apple and Google
It’s hard to open Facebook or Twitter, watch the news on TV or go to your favorite site this week without finding a roundup of the coolest gadgets and most cutting-edge technologies featured at 2018’s Consumer Electronics Show. Which brands, however, are making the biggest splash?
Last year, AirPR announced Research Trends™, a new feature of AirPR’s software that allows users to search real-time content and discover trends by keyword including co-mentioned terms, top publishers, top authors, competitive mentions and more.
Utilizing Research Trends™, we can discover which brands received the most amplification and buzz, but which authors were most influential for each brand. Here are the results:
1. Samsung (12.3K+ articles): The tech giant that announced new products in nearly every category from TV and displays to software to notebooks focused on a vision for the “intelligence of things.”
Top Author: Chris Smith, BGR
2. Apple (8.9K+ articles): Like previous years, Apple did not showcase at CES 18. However, almost all the leading iPhone and Mac accessory companies debut new products at CES and that was enough to propel Apple the second spot on our list.
Top Author: Anick Jesdanun, Associated Press
3. Google (8.8K+ articles): With a focus on Google Assistant to ensure that Alexa doesn’t take over the world (more on that in #5), Google’s massive outdoor booth garnered a lot of chatter.
Top Author: Heather Kelly, CNN
4. Intel (7.5K+ articles): Intel had a tough previous week with the discovery of CPU security flaws, but it was CEO Brian Krzanich’s keynote that turned things around for Intel and shifted the focus to the company’s advances in artificial intelligence, 5G connectivity, autonomous driving and virtual reality.
Top Author: Kevin Parrish, DigitalTrends
5. Amazon (6.6K+ articles): In the smart home category, Alexa’s success was in integrations at CES this year. “Nearly every buzz-worthy gadget has a ‘Just ask Amazon Alexa’ sticker on it,” said MacWorld’s Michael Simon. “Anyone who wants to get their device in homes needs to support Alexa first, and then Google and, if there’s time, Apple.”
